| October 13 | Joseph M. Clough, a former captain in the 4th New Hampshire Infantry Regiment, was appointed lieutenant colonel. William I. Brown, Adjutant of the 9th New Hampshire Infantry Regiment, was appointed major. |
| October 28 | Captain Thomas Leonard Livermore of the 1st New Hampshire Infantry Regiment transferred to the 18th New Hampshire and was promoted to major. |
